TFT Display Film Technology

1. Amorphous silicon thin film. The amorphous silicon thin film transistor technology was proposed in the 1970s. After nearly 30 years of unremitting efforts by scientists from various countries, production lines for display displays (LCDs) above the seventh generation have all been automated, and industrial production technology is quite mature. It has developed into the mainstream product of display displays in the world today, and the goal of future development is to achieve larger screen sizes and lower production costs. Amorphous silicon TFT technology has the advantages of mature preparation process, relatively simple preparation, high yield, and is suitable for large-scale production. The disadvantage is that TFTs have only N-type devices and a mobility of only 0.5-1.0cm2/Vs.
2. Polycrystalline silicon thin film. Polysilicon thin film processes are mainly divided into two categories:
(1) High temperature process refers to the process in which the temperature is higher than 900 ℃. The high-temperature process can only use expensive quartz as the substrate, and TFT performance is good. The high-temperature process is only applicable to small and medium-sized display screens or projection screen series.
(2) Low temperature process, the temperature during the entire processing process is lower than 600 ℃. Large display screens can be fabricated on inexpensive glass substrates using a low-temperature process. Low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFTs are widely used in active (active) drive display TFT-LCD and AMOLED due to their low power consumption, portability, thinness, providing high current, and system integration. The key to the process of polysilicon TFT is how to prepare excellent polysilicon thin films with low cost and large area.
3. Organic thin film TFT. It is self-evident that the emergence of organic TFTs will form a strong competition for existing amorphous silicon TFTs. It will be the core technology of a new generation of flexible displays. Displays made using flexible display technology can curl like canvases, and may become an important member of the future display world like display displays.
Due to the use of organic materials, which have the characteristics of flexible display, they are not only impact resistant, but also light in weight and small in size. Not only has the appearance of the display been changed, but the application environment has also been greatly expanded and diversified. Using a tape winding process similar to the newspaper printing process to print the display on a plastic film sheet can greatly reduce production costs.
TFT display:
Generally, the active material of TFT is silicon thin film. According to the structure of silicon thin film, transistors are divided into amorphous silicon TFT (a-SiTFT), polycrystalline silicon (p-SiTFT), and monocrystalline silicon MOSFET (c-SiMOSFET). In addition, TFTs prepared using organic materials are called organic TFTs.
TFT technology is at the core of the flat panel display industry, characterized by capital intensive, talent intensive, and technology intensive features, high panel output value, and significant industrial agglomeration effects. Although TFT technology is mature, it is still developing rapidly. There is still room to continuously reduce production costs by improving film materials and preparation processes, while improving panel performance.
